“In July, I was honored to become a health expert for a Chinese enterprise soft power think tank, which goes to show that our efforts over the past few years have been fully recognized. At the same time, I also deeply feel a strong sense of responsibility and commitment, and look forward to promoting Chinas best products to the world!”

Alice Fan is the founder and chairperson of Nur Group Holding Co., Ltd.and CEO of subsidiary company Nur Group Medical International(Shenzhen) Co. Ltd. In less than 5 years, the company has become the pioneering force in the medical technology under her leadership, and has been nominated the most trusted medical supplier in Hong Kong and one of the top 100 brands in China for two consecutive years. It has also been included on the white name list compiled by the Ministry of Commerce of China. Recently, granted Chinas Foreign Trade an exclusive interview to share her entrepreneurial experience.

Build a complete protection system

In 2017, Alice Fan came up with the idea of starting a company when she was finishing her MBA studies in the U.K. She grew to understand the communication and conflicts between different cultures and acquired a deep understanding about the international market during her study abroad.

In 2018, Alice returned to Hong Kong after completing her studies in the U.K. She was passionate about transforming what she had learned into real business practices. At that time, the government was encouraging young people in Hong Kong to start business in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Gulf Region. After several rounds of investigation, Alice decided to to expend a new subsidiary company in the Greater bay Area China for medical technology sector in 2020 .

In early 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic broke out and spread across the world, as a medical technology company, Nur Group Medical International offered immediate help and donated both money and materials. It played an important role in the purchasing and transportation of medical supplies for Chinas mainland and Hong Kong during the height of the pandemic, and won recognition from industry partners and clients. It also developed new friendships with many other companies.

After the pandemic broke out, personal protective products were very scarce in the market. Furthermore, the normalization of pandemic control and prevention measures has also pushed up the demand for personal protective products.

However, Alice Fan was seeing that many people were still getting infected even if they wore masks. She felt distressed when she saw so many medical workers contract diseases and pass away in the process of treating patients. She was quoted as saying: “I really want to do something for our white angels and unsung heroes.” This also inspired her to create medical protection products from her companys self-owned brands.

Under the leadership of Alice Fan, Nur Group Medical International optimized resources and organized for top medical experts and R&D groups to develop the new product. The R&D groups found that the meltblown cloth of traditional masks cannot effectively resist the COVID-19 virus, because the size and shape of the virus is much smaller than that of bacteria. In addition, the studies emphasized that the new virus is extremely infectious and that personal protection is very difficult.

Finally, Nur Group Medical promoted its Nur Health Antiviral KN95 Mask, which uses new materials and antibacterial inactivation technology for production. It features a nano structure, and the material is very environmentally friendly. As a result, people may wear face masks for a long time in low-risk areas. Nur Health Antiviral KN95 Masks protection level has been upgraded to another high-tech latitude. Many test reports of domestic and foreign research institutions reveal that the effectiveness of the antibacterial efficiency of the new material reaches 99.98%, including COVID-19 and widespread disease. Vast of majority in Hong Kong has infection of Covid during early 2022. Luckly, it has reported no client has caught Covid while waring this mask, even in less than a milter classroom, one of her client shared.

In addition, Alice Fan introduced the patent technology of Nur Group Medical International with the Kirin Shield nano platinum air filter screen. The filter screen adopts the worlds finest 0.01 nm nano platinum particles, which can effectively eliminate 99.99% of viruses (including the novel coronavirus) and bacteria within 5 minutes, and can remove VOCs (volatile organic compounds), odors and formaldehyde. It can filter out more than 90% of PM10 particles, effectively capturing most air pollutants and providing a clean and fresh environment.

The Kirin Shield nano platinum air purifier uses a patent created through cooperation between China and Japan. Its internal filter adopts nano platinum purification technology, which, as stated above, effectively kills 99.99% of viruses and bacteria, as well as removing VOCs, odors and formaldehyde. The Kirin Shield virus-killing platinum coating spray is a certified water-based disinfectant for hospital use, which can eliminate 99.99% of bacteria and viruses within 10 minutes and effectively prevent the propagation of odors and mold. It is said that the effective duration of this coating spray on the surface may last for up to 12 months, which is more than 4 times that of common household disinfectant solutions. The multi-effect formula cleans and disinfects various hard and soft surfaces, including plastic, stainless steel, wood, painted surfaces, interior decoration and all washable fabrics. Tests showed that the coating spray is non-toxic and nonirritating for the skin and mouth, and is absolutely safe for daily use for humans, pets and the environment. According to Alice Fan, this technology has been applied in Shanghais Fangcang shelter hospital, in some 3-grade class A hospitals, Hong Kongs large jewelers, and high-end car interiors.

The portable nucleic acid instant detection platform SimpiDxtm is another key product which was launched by Nur Group Medical International. “When the pandemic broke out, not all regions were able to realize the rapid integration of human and material resources. For example, when the COVID-19 pandemic first broke out, Hong Kong faced many difficulties. There were not enough nucleic acid testing institutions to serve the population of more than 7 million people of Hong Kong. Therefore, Nur Group Medical International developed a mobile laboratory for rapid nucleic acid testing to solve the imminent problem and meet market needs,” she explained.

Alice Fan also pointed out that the acid testing platform is an upgrade of the traditional fluorescence quantitative instrument, and adopts special technologies for rapid cooling and temperature control. It also features flexible operation, a good performance and low costs. During testing, a collected nasopharyngeal swab sample (stored in the preservation solution/sample release agent) can be directly added to the ring body micro detection reagent for rapid amplification. The device is compact and convenient to carry, and can be flexibly used in various testing scenarios. Compared with conventional nucleic acid detection methods, it reduces the testing time to less than 30 minutes, which is a marked reduction, reduces the possibility of pollution and infection occurring, and does not affect the sensitivity and specificity of the test. This is the perfect combination of simplicity and accuracy, making it one of the best pieces of rapid fluorescent quantitative PCR equipment in the world.

According to Alice, it takes only 30 minutes from sample delivery to getting the test result; the platform is easy to operate and ordinary personnel can master the testing method after undergoing 10 minutes of training; the testing equipment is compact and easy to carry, and can be easily used for on-site testing; and it can test 64 target indicators and features a high sensitivity and specificity. It also supports closed testing for the whole process: “Our platform is especially suitable for large-scale conferences, exhibitions, and for use by customs, airports and in other scenarios. With different testing packages, the platform can also test for various other viruses, such as monkeypox.”

In addition, Nur Group Medical International has also launched antigen detection kits and monkeypox virus detection kit (qPCR), which have obtained overseas CE certification.

Today, from new material masks which are worn every day to portable TCM Health cards, from new antibacterial cloths for sterilization and bacteriostasis to the indoor air disinfection and sterilization equipment that has obtained dozens of national patents, and from daily wear to improving indoor environment, from the outdoors in, Nur Group Medical International has built a set of protection systems which can be used for improving peoples health and making people feel safe.

In recent years, Nur Group Medical International has developed customers all over the world, including Europe, the U.S., Brazil, Singapore, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, the Middle East and Africa. It has also attracted some top medical experts both at home and abroad to expand its R&D team, greatly improving the overall R&D level of the team.

Alice Fan continued, saying: “the export team of Nur Group Medical International is undertaking clinical research through the combination of Chinese traditional medicine and Western medicine, in order to achieve both preventative and curative effects. In particular, it can provide treatment solutions for patients recovering from COVID-19 infections and having ongoing symptoms such as a decreased immune capacity and pulmonary fibrosis.”

Expand the business scope steadily

Alice Fan does not set limits for her career development. While making great progress in the medical sector, Nur Group has also been expanding its scope of business.

After years of overseas operation, Alice found that although China is a large manufacturing country, many Chinese manufacturing enterprises are at the lower end of the industrial chain:“Why are products made in China thought to be cheap and low-quality by foreign countries? The main reason is that there are too many intermediate links in the business transactions, which pushes up the communication and transaction costs. The capital available for R&D and production is not enough. How can we produce high-quality products with low costs?”

Therefore, Alice Fan decided to create an interactive pandemic prevention circle through independent R&D and deep cooperation with partners from different countries. The purpose of this was to better integrate industry resources, cut intermediate links, and bring benefits to both the buyers and the sellers. “I hope that through some of Nur Group Medical Internationals successful practices, we can set a better developmental orientation for the industry. Most of the domestic enterprises belong to small and medium-sized pharmaceutical companies who are not familiar with the international market and international treading. We hope that we can use our resources to help terminal customers receive the best products, and to also help domestic factories manufacture products that meet international standards, and safely arrived forrign shore, so as to achieve win-win results.”

In the second quarter of 2021, Nur Group Medical International started a bulk commodity trade business, and its business scope covers energy products such as refined oil, crude oil and ore,and agricultural products such as wheat, soybeans, sugar and corn. At present, the group mainly purchases grain and non-staple food from South America and North America, crude oil and natural gas from the Middle East, and agricultural products from Southeast Asia.

Alice Fan also stated that from the third quarter of 2021, the group has confirmed the variety of purchased goods, and the volume and price of procurement. Purchased goods would then arrive at the port after the Spring Festival. She said, “although pricing is very difficult, especially when considering the rising oil prices and transportation and labor costs. Fortunately, the team had taken such factors into consideration and won recognition from the sellers through their foresight, great sincerity and strong business strength.”

Alice Fan continued: “involvement in foreign trade business is not so simple. What is more important is that we represent the image of Chinese enterprises and do everything we can to protect that image. We also hope to create more benefits for the public and provide foreign countries with our safe and premium products. This is also about showing our love and kindness to the world. We hope the intelligence and diligence of Chinese people, as well as the high quality of Chinese products, can be seen all across the world.” She also mentioned that: “we also need more guidance and help from relevant government departments to deliver safe, efficient and high-quality pandemic prevention products which are made in China to people affected by the pandemic around the world, so as to carry forward the love of our Chinese nation.”

Nur Group also pays close attention to the investment field. At present, in addition to the medical and pandemic prevention sector, Nur Group is also planning to invest in innovative hospitals and clinical institutions, agricultural science and technology development, and intelligent health care programs. Furthermore, since 2021, the group had started to invest in the high-tech field. It has already invested in some high-tech industries such as chips and semiconductors, and has successively set up factories and R&D centers in Shanghai, Fujian, Jiangsu, Guangdong and Shenzhen, and also plans to set up branches in Europe and other places in the future.

Show persistence in the pursuit of dreams

In just a few years since its establishment, Nur Group Medical International (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd. has established a certain degree of popularity at home and abroad. Besides excellent R & D teams and black technology products, its service targets include governments, CDC departments, hospitals, listed companies, large-scale expositions and well-known jewelry stores in different countries. It has a global layout, combined with the advantages of expert elites, talents and international resources, and is committed to creating an international PPE platform to lead good domestic products to go abroad, Nur Group Medical has provides onestop service for end buyers, solve the pain points of international PPE trade, overcome technical barriers, crisis of confidence and payment issues.

Alice Fan said, “many successful people have one thing in commonpersistence. In terms of new projects, 80% of people have the idea, 50% of people take action, 20% of people create real practices, while less than 10% people see it through until the end. I think persistence is the key to achieving success.”

She also expressed her thoughts that young people or start-up entrepreneurs should first evaluate their own ability to withstand heavy pressure, in order to see if they could get out of the predicament and walk on in the pointed direction.

Alice Fan spoke highly of Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, as both of them are start-up entrepreneurs with dreams who started from scratch. “As long as we carry on looking to our dream and do the valuable work with kindness, the value will come with us and we will receive help and support from other people. When other people say ‘no to what we do, we must stick with our dreams and finally achieve rejuvenation of ourselves.”

As a successful entrepreneur with a strong sense of responsibility and ambition, Alice Fan has won numerous honors and awards since she started her business, such as being selected as “one of the top 100 rising Chinese stars promoting the development of the times” and winning the title of outstanding female business leader in 2019. Whats more, she is also dedicated to charity and public welfare, and has been actively participating in volunteer activities organized by local organizations such as Junior Chamber International Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Island Womens Association to show her love and care for the elderly and the impoverished in the community. She has led her team and mobilized entrepreneurs to make donations via the internet. In March this year, when the pandemic situation in Jilin Province became very urgent, Alice Fan immediately organized the collection of pandemic prevention materials, and donated a large number of KN95 masks, COVID-19 antigen kits and other pandemic prevention materials.

Today, the world is still facing the challenges posed by COVID-19, monkeypox and other types of viruses. As a member of the “global village”, Alice Fan hopes to show the world that Chinas young entrepreneurs are working hard to provide solutions, transmit their love to all corners of the world and make contributions to building a community with a shared future for all of mankind.
