藝术作为人类创造力的表达，几乎可以有无数种形式，包括绘画、雕塑、音乐、文学、舞蹈、摄影、动画、书法等。

1 Art is defined as “the expression or application of human creative skills and imagination”. What are the different types of art forms？

Visual arts

2 A major genre（类型） of art is visual arts. Visual arts belong to art that is created to aesthetically please the eye. They are visual in nature. Visual arts are subdivided into the following categories—architecture， ceramics， conceptual arts and so on.

Performing arts

3 Performing arts are another type of art. This genre includes music， dance and so on. Of performing arts， music is one of the most universal. Music can include singing and playing instruments. It appears in virtually every society around the world and is often influenced by culture and tradition. Dance is used to express a certain mood or feeling or to tell of a certain event. Traditional theater has elements of dance and music as well as singing， acting， narration and dialogue. In addition to entertaining audience members， theater performances often have a deeper meaning， telling tales of a societys history， traditions， customs and significant events.

Modern art

4 Modern art is another genre of art. This family includes digital art， which was

created to bridge the gap between art and technology. Digital art allows artists to turn their canvases from twodimensional medium to threedimensional medium. Because di

gital art uses technology for production， it can be communicated on a larger scale than traditional art. Digital art is displayed through many channels， including television， the Internet and computers. Another type of art is public art. This group includes statues and sculptures and extends to murals， memorials， festivals and integrated landscaping.

5 No matter what type an art is， its powerful because it can potentially influence our culture， politics， and even the economy. When we see a powerful work of art， we feel it touching deep within our core， which gives us the power to make reallife changes.
