On December 24, 2021, the headquarters of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) moved to Shanghai. Shanghai is the birthplace of China's shipbuilding industry, and the relocation of CSSC to Shanghai will fully open a new journey of taking root in Shanghai, obeying and serving the major national strategies, and accelerating the building of a world-class shipbuilding group at a new historical starting point.

Li Qiang, secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, and Wang Yong, state councilor, attended and inaugurated the relocated "China State Shipbuilding Corporation". Hao Peng, secretary of the party committee and director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, Lei Fanpei, secretary of the leading party group and chairman of the board of directors of CSSC, and Gong Zheng, deputy secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and mayor, attended and spoke at the unveiling ceremony. Yang Jincheng, deputy secretary of the leading party group and general manager of CSSC, presided over the unveiling ceremony.

The relocation of CSSC headquarters to Shanghai is not only an important measure to implement the coordinated development strategy of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and relieve Beijing's non-capital functions, but also a practical action to actively integrate into the new development pattern, support the building of a maritime power and a scientific and technological power, and support Shanghai's building of a socialist modern international metropolis.

CSSC is already the world's largest shipbuilding group and the backbone of China's marine science and technology innovation and development. CSSC has deep roots with Shanghai, and the relocation of its headquarters in Shanghai is conducive to optimizing the layout of the Stateowned economy, better integrating into and serving the building of Shanghai's "five centers", and will also inject strong impetus into the construction of a world-class shipbuilding group for CSSC. CSSC will focus on the main industry, continuously expand the new space for the development of the shipbuilding industry, and assume the responsibility of the leader of the shipbuilding industry and the "chain leader" of the modern industrial chain of the shipbuilding industry. At the same time, CSSC should accelerate scientific and technological selfreliance and self-improvement, win the battle of key and core technologies, go all out to create a "hotbed" of original technology in the field of shipbuilding industry, and be the main force of national strategic scientific and technological forces.

On the same day, China Ocean Engineering Equipment Technology Development Co., Ltd. and CSSC Haizhou System Technology Co., Ltd. also settled in Shanghai. China Ocean Engineering Equipment Technology Development Co., Ltd. is an innovative professional and technical company in the field of marine engineering equipment, with a registered capital of 20 billion yuan, of which CSSC holds 19% of the shares. CSSC Haizhou System Technology Co., Ltd. aims to strive to realize the independent controllability of industrial software, takes the development of independent and controllable industrial software solutions for the whole life of the shipbuilding industry as its main responsibility, and strives to cultivate independent industrial software that catches up with foreign products.

CSSC is a Fortune Global 500 company, the relocation of its headquarters in Shanghai will further enhance the global resource allocation capability of Shanghai International Shipping Center. With its strong scientific research strength, CSSC will effectively promote the building of Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Center. Shanghai will give full play to the comprehensive advantages of science and technology, finance, talents and business environment, vigorously support CSSC to optimize its industrial layout, achieve more key innovation breakthroughs, and work together to contribute to the building of a maritime power and a scientific and technological power.

CSSC was established on November 26, 2019 by the former China State Shipbuilding Corporation and the former China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, after reorganization.
