Teaching English in Costa Rica

Jenna had a wonderful volunteer in teaching English to the children of Samara， Costa Rica. Samara was an island of love and happiness. It was impossible to see fight or worry through peoples eyes and looks. The children at school were very easy to be happy. A simple smile could light them up.

Jennas first week started with an English Sports Camp. Each morning she gave them a lesson. The teaching was difficult because some children were poor in their own language. After lunch， she took them to play and taught them new games and sports. She worked from 8：30 a.m. to about  4：00 p.m. She felt the camp was a success because the children always came back with smiles and eagerness to learn.

The second week gave Jenna more time to experience the local culture. She taught children every morning and adults at night. The beach is an important part of its culture， so almost every day she went to the beach and surfed there. She also took a 6-hour journey on a horse to a 50-foot-tall waterfall sometimes.

Jenna was surprised to find it wasnt hard to have no TV or phone there. Whats more， one hard thing was the language problem. Another problem was the cold shower. The transportation was also kind of difficult because the stations werent clean and the buses ran very little.

This volunteer does change her. She can understand what the real happiness was from this journey.
