Why don't you help your

mother with the housework？

为什么不帮妈妈做些家务活呢？

这是一个否定的特殊疑问句，这个句子也可用“Why not + 动词原形”来表达同样的意思。

—Daddy， I don't know what to do for the holiday？ 爸爸，我不知道假期该做些什么？

—Why don't you  help your mother with the housework？ 为什么不帮妈妈做些家务活呢？

注意：同样也可以表示建议的How about... 和What about... 中的 about是介词，所以当后面接动词时，就要将动词变成动名词。

例句：

Why don't you buy a scarf？  为什么不买一条围巾呢？

Why not join us？ 为什么不加入我们呢？

How about playing tennis？ 打网球怎么样？

How about going to the cinema？ 去看电影怎么样？

What about getting her a scarf？ 给她买条围巾如何？

What's up？ 怎么回事呢？

—I need your help. 我需要你的帮助。

—Oh， what's up？ 哦，怎么回事呢？

—I locked myself out. What do you suggest I do？ 我把自己锁在外头了，你说说看我该怎么做？

—Well， the best thing to do is to go down to the reception desk and ask for a duplicate key. 嗯，最好的辦法就是下楼到服务台去拿把复制钥匙。

注意：与What's up？用法和意义类似的还有：

What's the matter？

What's happening？

What's wrong？

例句：

—Hi. What's happening？ 嗨，怎么回事呢？

—Nothing much. 没什么。
