Robot Teachers 机器人教师

If you think of the jobs robots could never do， you would put doctors and teachers at the top of the list. Its easy to think of robot cleaners and factory workers， but some jobs need peoples special ability1. But are we right about  what robots can do？ Sometimes， they already do better than doctors. Also， some patients2 might feel better sharing personal3 things with a machine than a person. Could there be a place for robots in education4 after all？

如果想想机器人永远做不到的工作，你可能会把医生和老师放在首位。很容易想到机器人清洁工和工厂工人，但有些工作需要人特有的能力。但我们是否低估了机器人的能力？有时候，他们已经比医生表现得更好。而且有些患者可能会觉得，与机器共享个人信息比与人共享更好些。那机器人在教育方面会有一席之地吗？

British education expert5 Anthony Seldon thinks so. And he even has a date for the robot takeover6 of the classroom： 2027. He says robots will do the main job of transferring7 information and teachers will be like assistants8. Intelligent9 robots will read students faces， actions and maybe even brain. Then they will match the information of each student.

英国教育专家安东尼·塞尔登就是这么想的。他甚至还有一个机器人接管教室的日期：2027年。他预测，机器人将承担传递信息的主要工作，教师将像助手一样。智能机器人可以读取学生的脸、动作甚至大脑信号，然后根据每个学生调整信息。

A robot teacher is better than no teacher at all. In some parts of the world， there arent enough10 teachers and 9～16% of children under the age of 14 dont go to school. That problem could be partly solved11 by robots because they can teach anywhere and wont get stressed12， or tired， or move somewhere for an easier， higher-paid job.

但機器人老师总比没有老师好。在世界上某些地区，教师人手不足，9%～16%的14岁以下儿童辍学。机器人可以部分解决这个问题，因为它们可以在任何地方教书，不会感到压力、疲劳，也不会为了一份更轻松、薪水更高的工作而离开。

Those bad things of teaching are something everyone knows. Teachers all over the world are leaving because it is a difficult job and they feel overworked. Maybe the question is not “Will robots replace teachers？” but “How can robots help teachers？” Office workers can use software to do things like answer e-mails and hold meetings. Teachers spend a lot of time doing non-teaching work， including more than 11 hours a week marking homework. If robots could cut the time teachers spend marking homework and writing reports， teachers would have more time for the parts of the job people do best.

教学方面的那些负面消息是每个人都知道的。全世界的教师都在减少，因为这是一项困难的工作，他们感到工作过量。或许问题不是“机器人会取代教师吗？”而是“机器人如何帮助教师？”办公室工作人员可以使用软件来做一些事情，如回复电子邮件和安排会议。老师们在非教学工作上浪费了很多时间，包括每周花超过11个小时批改作业。如果机器人能够减少教师批改作业和写报告的时间，那教师将有更多的时间来完成人类最擅长的那部分工作。
