China， Kazakhstan Agree to Develop Permanent Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

China and Kazakhstan decided on September 11 to develop a permanent comprehensive strategic partnership. The decision came as Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with his Kazakh counterpart， Kassym-Jomart Tokayev， at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Xi said China will comprehensively deepen reform， expand opening-up， and promote higher-quality development.

“A stable， open， and prosperous China will always be an opportunity for the future development of the world，” he said.

On China-Kazakhstan ties， Xi said China is willing to deepen allround cooperation with Kazakhstan， seek synergy between the Silk Road Economic Belt and Kazakhstans Bright Path new economic policy， and strengthen connectivity.

He also called on the two sides to boost cooperation in the industrial sector and science and technology innovation， increase peopleto-people and cultural contacts， and facilitate exchanges at the subnational level.

Tokayev said Kazakhstan is willing to take the decision of developing a permanent comprehensive strategic partnership with China as an opportunity to promote closer bilateral ties.

Tokayev said Kazakhstan is looking forward to cementing highlevel exchanges with China， and strengthening pragmatic cooperation in the areas of economy， trade， infrastructure， energy， 5G， science and technology， and people-to-people and cultural exchanges under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

“The secret to all of this [Chinas progress in human rights] lies in the way we promote human rights in China – knowing our own realities， putting the peoples interests above all else， and promoting human rights through development， the rule of law， and greater openness.”

Chinas permanent representative to the UN Office at Geneva Chen Xu said at the opening ceremony of an exhibition showcasing Chinas progress in human rights opened in Geneva， Switzerland， on September 9.

The Symposium of the China-Germany Economic Advisory Committee Held in Beijing

On September 6， 2019， Premier Li Keqiang and Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany jointly attended the symposium of the China-Germany Economic Advisory Committee at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing， during which they exchanged views with representatives attending the symposium.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China is expanding opening-up， with the manufacturing sector fully opened and the financial and service sectors to be further opened， and a significant number of German enterprises have been the first beneficiaries. German companies are welcome to seize opportunities， continue to increase their investment in China and promote international cooperation in technological innovation and emerging technology standards. The Chinese side will strictly protect intellectual property rights to foster a market-oriented， law-based， and international business environment for all Chinese and foreign enterprises including German ones.

Angela Merkel remarked that Germany-China economic and trade cooperation has been extensive. As Chinas reform and opening-up advances， some German companies have set good examples in Chinas foreign cooperation in new opening-up fields. The German side welcomes investment from Chinese enterprises and will step up efforts to complete EU-China Bilateral Investment Agreement negotiations during Germanys EU rotating presidency in 2020.

Yang Jiechi Meets with President Kenyatta of Kenya

On September 4， Yang Jiechi， special representative of President Xi Jinping， member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China （CPC） and director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs， met with President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya in Nairobi.

Yang Jiechi noted that President Xi Jinping and President Kenyatta have met several times and ushered the China-Kenya comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership into a new era. China is willing to avail the opportunity of building the Belt and Road Initiative and the implementation of the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation （FOCAC） to help Kenya achieve its Vision 2030 and the Big Four Agenda so as to push China-Kenya and China-Africa relations to a new level.

Kenyatta thanked China for its selfless help in Kenyas economic and social development. Kenyatta said that Kenya and African countries are willing to implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the FOCAC， and further deepen practical cooperation in various fields.
