In the hot July, countless changes are waiting to be made. At a time when “science and technology, fashion, and green” are becoming the new focus of Chinas textile industry development, Chinas textile industry needs a platform to show its self-innovation strength, gain insight into the domestic and international market trends, and voice the open cooperation. Undoubtedly, the annual China Textile & Apparel Trade Show (New York) (hereinafter referred to as “New York Shows”) is an industry event that focuses on all the eyes of the textile industry.

The former China Textile & Apparel Trade Show(New York) was founded in 2000. Since 2010, China National Textile and Apparel Council and Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH have cooperated in creat- ing three international professional trade shows in New York for apparel, fabrics and home textiles, namely, Apparel Sourcing USA (APP), Texworld USA and Home Textile Sourcing Expo (HTSE), they collectively referred to as New York Shows.

On July 22nd, local time, New York Shows, hosted by China National Textile and Apparel Council, co-organized by the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT and Messe Frankfurt North America, was grandly opened at the Javits Center, NYC.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhang Tao, Secretary-General of the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT.

Quality shows, the three show areas gather together

With the expectations of all parties, on July 22, the 20th New York Shows came as scheduled. More than 800 textile and garment enterprises from 17 countries and regions including China, the United States, India, Pakistan, Turkey, Colombia and Portugal will gather again at the 3A and 3B pavilions on the first floor of the Javits Center in a position of nearly 30,000 square meters.

This New York Shows has been actively participated by textile and garment enterprises in 19 provinces, cities and autonomous regions, including Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Fujian, Shanghai, Guangdong, Shandong, Hebei, Hubei, Anhui and Jiangxi. A total of 545 Chinese enterprises have participated in the New York Shows in the United States. In addition to the obvious increase in the number of exhibitors in Fujian, more than ten exhibitors from Jiangxi and Anhui in the central and western regions are also full of expectations for this years New York Shows. At the pavilions, you can see the booths carefully arranged by many well-known domestic enterprises, their participation also adds vitality to New York Shows. Jihua 3542 Textile Co., Ltd., High Fashion Silk, Yantai North, Jiangsu Guotai Intl Group Guohua Corp. Ltd., Jiangsu Guotai Huasheng Industrial Co., Ltd., Mengdi Group, Zhejiang Orient Holdings, Jiangsu Soho International Group Corp., Sumec Textile & Light Industry Co., Ltd. and other well-known leading textile enterprises have received high attention on the spot.

With the acceleration of the transformation and upgrading of Chinas textile industry, green and sustainable has become a new positioning and new goal for the development of Chinas textile industry. Since the development of the New York Shows, it has been adhering to the concept of “green shows, and sustainable shows”. The selection of exhibitors exhibits is also based on this standard. The continuous guidance of many years has made the green and environmental protection concept of this exhibition more popular. 64% of the exhibitors in the clothing exhibition area have various international environmental qualification certifications such as Oko-Tex Standard 100 and OkoTex Standard 1000.

In addition, small order enterprises have increased significantly, with 40% of apparel exhibitors providing 100 or less orders. It also reflects that in the process of continuous exhibition, the exhibitors rapid response ability has improved significantly in the face of the complex and changeable international market.

As an important part of the New York Shows, the fabric show area will focus on various fabrics such as knitting, functional, lace, denim, printing, cotton and silk. Compared with last year, the share of high-end product has increased, and the company is full of confidence in the U.S. market.

The home textile show area covers silk quilts, floss silk quilts, duvets, quilted quilts, blankets, carpets, coral velvet, flannel, cushions, pillows, towel and bath towel, bedding fabrics, four-piece bedding and other products. It is particularly worth mentioning that the organizers have increased their efforts in recruiting exhibitors in the early stage and expanded the scope of recruitment. This time, the New York Shows home textile show area welcomed the exhibitors from Poland and Turkmenistan for the first time. While ensuring the internationalization of the show, it also enhanced the diversity of exhibits and provided more choices for visiting buyers.

This New York Shows will continue to promote synergistic innovation of industrial chain through a series of popular trends, lectures on hot topics, and product launches.

During the New York Shows, Home Textiles Today will bring two industry forums. During the shows this year, the organizers also arranged more than 20 professional forums. From 2000 to 2018, Sino-US textile and apparel import and export trade grew significantly, with trade volume increasing from 9.945 billion U.S. dollars in 2003 to 49.718 billion U.S. dollars in 2018. From 2010 to 2018, the average annual growth rate of U.S. imports of textiles and clothing from China was 0.7%. In 2018, the overall outward investment in Chinas textile industry slowed down, but the investment in the United States increased by 20.7% compared with the previous year. The cumulative total direct investment in the United States amounted to 214 million U.S. dollars in 2015 - 2018. Over the past two decades, Sino-US textile industry cooperation has reached unprecedented depth and breadth, forming a highly complementary and mutually beneficial win-win situation, which benefits not only the industry of the two countries, but also the whole world.

Twenty years of change, twenty years of hard work. In the future, the New York Shows will continue to be a pioneer of the development of Chinas textile industry, and striving for success.
