To get a better understanding of how Chinas rural poor are rising above the poverty line, China Today reporters visited Fengdu County of Chongqing Municipality, a former povertystricken county. Resorting to a range of methods, including policy coordination, capital support, and industrial development, the county has developed its economy to such an extent that its poverty incidence dropped to 0.67 percent from 12.1 percent in 2014. This has brought a sense of dignity and happiness to local residents of Fengdu, which serves as an excellent example of the governments commitment to improve the lives of its people, thus ensuring the paramount human right – peoples well-being.
