An aerial photo taken on June 12 shows the Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport under construction in east Chinas Shandong Province.
Shaped like a starfi sh, the airport started construction in Jiaodong Township of Qingdao in December 2015, and has almost completed its interior design and entered the equipment adjustment stage. When the fi rst phase is fi nished, it will be able to accommodate the takeoff and landing of all types of large passenger jets.
After the second phase of the project, which includes two parallel runways, is completed, the airport will be able to handle a volume of 452,000 fl ights, 55 million passengers and 1 million tons of cargo a year.
