The bad external market environment brought many unfavorable factors to the survival and development of Fujian shipbuilding enterprises in 2018. However, Fujian shipbuilders have the courage to face difficulties,strengthen their confidence, cheer up their spirits, actively bring new work into full play, break out new ways, make new achievements, and show new bright spots in the critical period.
Industry insiders believe that the production and operation of the Fujian shipbuilding industry can achieve“stability” is attributed to the fact that many shipbuilding enterprises have withstood the baptism of the market and the test of competition, and the enterprises that can survive basically have a stable management team, stable customers, relatively stable production orders, a stable backbone workforce,and relatively stable fund chain support.These factors enable the enterprises to maintain a stable production and management situation. It is because of“stability” that Fujian shipbuilding enterprises are able to achieve industrial output value of more than 10 billion yuan in the first 10 months.
In order to develop "new" products,Fujian shipbuilders develop new ideas,apply new technologies, expand new markets, meet new demands, serve new customers and seek new development.Fujian backbone shipbuilding enterprises have done a remarkable job in this respect.They have developed the first batch of new products in the region, China and the world. Among them are 227m deepsea mining vessels and 2800-passenger luxury cruise type ro/ro passenger ships,7500Cars LNG PCTC (dual-fuel power configuration), 84m catamaran semisubmersible multi-purpose mobile platform, 105M saturated submersible support vessel, 3500T to 5000T new submarine cable-laying vessel, a large number of new products, such as singlecolumn semi-submersible deep-sea fishery pasture, offshore scientific test platform, wind power integrated operation mobile platform, 5390DWT stainless steel oil and chemical integrated ship, marine scientific research resupply refrigerating ship, etc. These new products not only meet the production and management needs of current enterprises, but also make a solid step forward for further expanding the market space and striving for better economic benefits of enterprises in the future.
Fujian is a major marine province in China, and the development of marine economy has a good foundation. In recent years, China has further expanded in marine fisheries, fishery refrigeration and transportation, marine products processing, marine resources research,marine aquaculture and other industries.It provides a rare opportunity for Fujian shipbuilding enterprises to build multivariety, multi-specification, multifunction and multi-batch fishing vessels.Fuzhou, Fu’an, Fuding, Xiamen,Dongshan and many other shipbuilding enterprises have seized this rare opportunity to undertake fishing vessel orders suitable for respective enterprises.Fujian Hang Seng Shipbuilding & Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. undertook and built 25 ocean-going fishing vessels of the same specification at one time. Fujian Century Huahai Shipbuilding & Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. laid out and built 20 multifunctional ocean-going fishing vessels on the building berth, Fujian Lixin Shipbuilding Engineering Co., Ltd. built a variety of fishing boats every year, with an annual output of nearly 100 boats.Fujian Hongye Boat Co., Ltd. specializes in FGRP fishing boats, the annual delivery of multiple series of FGRP ships hits 25,and follow-up orders continue; Fujian Zishun Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., facing both domestic and overseas markets, has successfully built several fishing boats for Sri Lanka while doing a good job in the domestic market. Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. takes advantage of technology and talents to develop and build high-end large export fishing boats.The products enjoy a high reputation abroad. Fujian Wanda Shipbuilding Co Ltd undertake a series of fishing orders from the customer base; Zhangpu Yonglin Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. is open to the majority of shellfish breeders, develops shellfish integrated ship integrating automation, safety, efficiency and multifunction in one, wining favor from the majority of coastal shellfish farmers, with the annual output up to dozens.
In the first 10 months, Fujian ship repair industry repaired 1976 ships of all kinds, which is an important part of Fujian shipbuilding industry output value.This is mainly due to the wide distribution of shipbuilding enterprises, from the east of Fujian to the south of Fujian, not only forming a sound network of ship repair along the coast of Fujian, but also has a series of dockyards of 300,000 tons,180,000 tons, 120,000 tons, 100,000 tons,and 80,000 tons, 50,000 tons, 30,000 tons, equipped with corresponding lifting equipment, and there are also a number of “skilled craftsmen” who repair boats. These hardware and software can provide various types of customers with in-dock repair, berthing repair, on-berth repair, anchoring repair, special voyage repair and so on, has completely achieved one-stop services for big ships and boats,onshore and anchorage, on-water and underwater, playing a very important role in the Fujian ship repair industry development.
At present, the “second-hand ship” appears in the ship market.On the one hand, with the reshuffle of the shipping market, some depressed shipping companies' ships are idle and need to find a new way out. On the other hand, some shipbuilding enterprises are unable to deliver new ships out of shipowner and other reasons, which lead shipbuilding enterprises to bear huge financial pressure and risk of ship safety management and so on. For this reason,some shipbuilding enterprises have to resort to selling to solve the undeliverable ships under the premise of complying with the provisions of the law. These two cases are usually defined by the industry as “second-hand ships”.With regard to “second-hand ships”,some enterprises in Fujian own flexible solutions: first, in the corporate website for the “second-hand ship” set up a “sale lease” column, so that the “secondhand ship” can be properly dealt with.Second, some shipbuilding enterprises hold the first hand information of“second-hand ship” supply and demand through the Internet, from which they can communicate and coordinate in order to realize the successful transaction between the two sides. Third,some shipbuilding enterprises, through their overseas offices, negotiate with their customers on the required types,specifications, technical parameters,configuration requirements, etc., and then rely on domestic institutions to look for the corresponding vessels. Or alternatively, they make appropriate alterations and modifications to the“second-hand ship” to meet the customer's requirements for the ship. In this respect, in the eastern part of Fujian,several enterprises are very flexible in the “second-hand ship” management,can not only reduce the burden on the“second-hand ship” enterprises, but also increase their own income, providing convenient services for the shipbuilding market, and contributing to promoting the balance of supply and demand.
