Masskara of Bacolod

Bacolod, the fifth largest city of Philippines, is called the city of smiles. Masskara originated in the early 1980s. It was set by local governmentin response totwo crisis: price-cut of4)sugarcaneand a miserable shipwreck.

Masskara starts from October 1st every year. There are various celebration, such as street dance, rock climbing, beauty pageant, mask-making competition, giant5)puppet 6)paradeand so on.

During the festival, people who put on masks and colorful folk costumes spill into the streets, which transforms narrow streets into a sea of joy.

If youpay a little attention, you will find that expressions on every mask are all the same: smile.

关于巴科洛德游的温馨小贴士：

①住宿建议：大部分宾馆的标间价格在200—500元，但十月第三周周末前后，住宿会变紧俏，价格也会翻倍，所以最好提前1—2周预定。

②交通建议：从菲律宾首都马尼拉飞巴科洛德大约需要1小时20分钟，从机场到市区，可选择摆渡巴士或吉普尼。

③活动建议：节日期间，市政厅以及Rizal小学门前会举办街舞比赛，市区外的坎拉翁火山同样值得一看。
