The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) proposed by China is essentially an international program. As of now, 103 countries and international organizations have signed cooperation agreements with China under the BRI framework. Since its initial proposal in 2013, the vision of the initiative is becoming a reality and bearing fruit.
Carrying on the Silk Road spirit of peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit, the initiative is gaining great momentum and becoming more popular across the globe. While attending a symposium honoring the fifth anniversary of the BRI in late August in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping pointed out,“Jointly pursuing the BRI is more than economic cooperation, it is an important pathway to improve global development patterns and global governance, and promote healthy development of economic globalization.”
