Xi Jinping Meets French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe
On June 25, 2018, President Xi Jinping met with French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe in Beijing, saying China is willing to work with France to enrich the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
“As comprehensive strategic partners, China and France need to enhance the consciousness of partnership, continue to build mutual trust, treat each other on an equal footing, and respect and accommodate each others core interests and major concerns,” Xi said.
He called on both sides to make special efforts to “boost pragmatic cooperation to implement at an early date the consensus and agreements that have been reached, give full play to the leading and exemplary role of major projects, and speed up nurturing new growth points of cooperation.”
“China appreciates that France is willing to take an active part in the Belt and Road construction,” Xi said. “China stands ready to synergize the Belt and Road Initiative with development strategies of France and the EU in the principle of achieving shared growth through discussion and collaboration.”
Philippe indicated that China has both long-term planning and a down-to-earth style in development. He also spoke highly of Chinas development achievements.
Full of confidence in relations with China, France hopes to boost exchanges in the areas of economy, trade, and culture, and promote strategic cooperation on civil nuclear energy and aerospace and aviation, Philippe said.
The Belt and Road Initiative is a future-oriented vision for cooperation that is in the interest of all humanity, he added.
France hopes to work with China to promote world peace and stability, and will help to strengthen cooperation between the EU and China, Philippe said.
Li Keqiang Attends the Seventh Summit of Heads of Government of China and CEEC
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang attended the seventh meeting of the heads of government of China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) in Sofia, Bulgaria on July 7. Li called for deepening open and pragmatic cooperation between China and CEEC to promote common prosperity and development.
He hailed the open, effective, and inclusive nature of the 16+1 mechanism as well as its fruitful achievements. “It has created a new model of multilateral open cooperation,” Li said. The cooperation mechanism has consolidated the foundation for mutual trust and realized mutual benefit for both sides, and meanwhile helped promote the development of China-EU relations, he pointed out. Li indicated that the 16+1 cooperation mechanism not only is conducive to the development of the two sides, but also helps narrow the gaps within the EU for balanced development and advancement of European integration, underscoring that the 16+1 cooperation conforms to the overall interests of Europe.

On June 20, 2018, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Nepals Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli in Beijing. “Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Nepal, the two countries have always carried out mutually beneficial cooperation on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence,” Xi pointed out.
Xi said China appreciates Nepals firm adherence to the one-China policy and will, as always, support Nepals efforts to safeguard national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and support Nepals independent choice of social system and development path suited to its national conditions.
China-Nepal relations are facing new opportunities for development, said the president, noting that the two sides should maintain close high-level exchanges, strengthen strategic communications, and continue to adhere to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, respect and accommodate each others core interests and concerns.
Oli said Nepal and China enjoyed a time-honored friendship and their relationship served as a model for relations between countries with different systems and sizes.
He thanked China for its support to Nepals national transformation and development, saying that Nepal firmly adheres to the one-China policy and will never allow any forces to engage in any anti-China activities on Nepalese territory.
“China and Arab states, both as developing countries, enjoy a profound and solid friendship, and have always been brothers, friends, and natural cooperation partners who understand and support each other. In the face of the current turbulent and volatile international situation, China and Arab states should strengthen unity and cooperation, enhance strategic mutual trust, intensify strategic coordination, deepen strategic cooperation, continue to firmly support each other on issues involving respective core interests, and jointly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of their own and developing countries, so as to play their due roles in regional and world peace and stability.”
State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the remark while meeting with Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit of the Arab League who was in China for the 8th Ministerial Meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum(CASCF).
