Chinas development cannot be separated from the world, while the development of the world cannot be achieved without contributions from China. At the early stage of reform and opening-up, China attracted foreign capital and technology through measures such as tax concessions and reductions, cultivated its own market economy, and created a huge market and profitable spaces for foreign capital.
Entering the 21st century, China has joined the WTO, earnestly fulfilled its commitments such as tariff concessions and market opening, opposed protectionism, strengthened the protection of property rights, and promoted fair competition. All through the way, China today has not only become a maintainer and builder of, and contributor to the multilateral trading system, but also deeply integrated with the world market, including the sectors of resources, energy, and investment. In doing so it has brought tremendous opportunities to the world.
Chinese President Xi Jinping pointed out that “reform and opening-up is an ongoing process that we will never stop.” China will continue to step up openingup. In the future, it will continue to strengthen its alignment with international economic and trade rules, promote the construction of the Belt and Road, deepen customs cooperation along the Belt and Road; ease market access, expand the opening-up of the service industry, especially the financial industry, and build a world-class business environment.
China also advocates that all countries in the world open the door to each other, promote free trade and expedite the flow of factors of production on a global scale, jointly safeguard the multilateral trading system, build an open economy, and achieve shared growth through discussion and collaboration.
