Huangshi Plans to Build a RMB One-hundred-billion Copper Product Industry Within Three Years

On the June 5,the 2018 Annual Conference of China Copper Processing Industry was convened in Huangshi,joined by representatives of 232 copper processing companies and more than 20 universities and research institutes from across the country to discuss the high quality development plan of the copper industry.The conference,themed“Driven by Innovation,Improving Quality and Efficiency,and Promoting High-Quality Development of Copper Processing Industry”,was sponsored by China Nonferrous Metals Processing Industry Association and Huangshi Municipal People’s Government.Huangshi is the birthplace ofbronze culture and an important gathering area for copper industry in China.The ancient mine site of Tonglushan Mountain is to date the largest,best preserved,the most complete ancient copper mine ruins of the highest smelting level and the earliest time forexcavation.In recentyears,Huangshi seized the historical opportunity of building a national industrial transformation and upgrading demonstration area,to fully promote the high-quality development of the entire industry chain of copper deep processing by changing the means,adjusting structure and promote transformation.Huangshi plans to create aRMB one-hundred-billion copper products industry by 2020,with“the focus being high-precision copper strips,copper foils,copper-based electronic materials,high-quality copper rods,copper alloy rods,and extensions such as special wires and cables,enamel insulated wire,etc.”It will focus on creating a copper smelting and deep processing industry cluster at Xialu District,Huangshi.In 2017,the city’s copper industry cluster reached sales revenue of 90.2 billion yuan,a year-on-year increase of 13.3%,and the number of abovescale enterprises was 36.
