“红山矗立，碧水中流”是对拉萨景观最贴切的描绘。雪域城从古至今都与雅鲁藏布江的最大支流——拉萨河息息相。藏语中，拉萨河被称为“吉曲”，意思是“快乐河”，从念青唐古拉山脚下发源，一路奔腾千余里。从空中望去，蓝的河道蜿蜒在苍茫的藏地高原上，河水与金色的沙洲互映衬，好似上帝在群山之间用如椽大笔描绘的油彩画。

The landscape in Lhasa is consisted of mountain ranges and rivers.Since ancient times, the city of Lhasa, named after the river, lies on the Lhasa River, the largest tributary of the middle section of the Yarlung Tsangpo River. In Tibetan, the Lhasa River is called"jiqu", which means"Happy River". Originated from the foot of the Nyainqentanglha Mountain, it winds its way of more than a thousand li. From a bird’s eye view, the blue river meandering in the vast Tibetan Plateau and the golden sandbanks add radiance and beauty to each other, as if a large oil painting done by God.
