A bullet train runs through the Qinling Mountains on a test run along the new high-speed railway linking Xian of northwest Chinas Shaanxi Province with Chengdu of southwest Chinas Sichuan Province on November 22.
The Xian-Chengdu high-speed railway is scheduled to enter operation by the end of the year. The 643-km line is the fi rst rail route through the Qinling Mountains. With a design speed of 250 km per hour， it slashes the rail travel time between the two cities from 16 hours to 3 hours.endprint
