“Hong Kongs return to China was a milestone in the citys history. After a hundred years of ups and downs， Hong Kong finally rejoined the motherland. Hong Kong people have become the masters of the land they call home. And Hong Kong has since entered a new phase of development. Hong Kongs return to China is also a highlight in the history of China-U.K. relations. The historical obstacle in the way of restrengthening ties between China and Britain has finally been removed， putting bilateral relations on a new footing.”

– Chinese Ambassador to the U.K. Liu Xiaoming delivered a speech“Hand in Hand Towards a Promising Future” on June 26， 2017 to mark the 20th anniversary of the return of Hong Kong to China.

“Sino-Swiss cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative is a long-term， systematic program that involves all aspects of society including government and business. Communication and exchanges between the two countries are critical for its success. We should therefore start policy communication and strategy alignment at government level as soon as possible... Meanwhile the two governments should consider establishing a high-level innovation platform， and invite businesses， research institutes and universities from both nations to participate in it.”
