China and Denmark Adopt Collaborative Work Plan

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang held talks with visiting Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen of Denmark in Beijing, on May 3, 2017.

Li said China and Denmark have great potential for further cooperation. The two sides plan to strengthen cooperation in areas such as fishing, agriculture, food safety, and drug regulations from 2017 to 2020 through a joint work plan which was agreed during Rasmussens visit. As next year will mark the 10th anniversary of their comprehensive strategic partnership, China is willing to use this opportunity to explore further cooperation with Denmark. He added that China is also willing to work with Denmark to address regional issues and international affairs while facilitating free trade and investment.

Rasmussen expressed his willingness to fully implement the three-year work plan agreed on by the two countries and said Denmark, a firm supporter of free trade, warmly welcomes investment from Chinese companies.

After the meeting, Li and Rasmussen observed the signing of documents on food and drug regulations, quarantine and sanitary requirements and animal protection, among others.

Senior Chinese Official Calls for Improving China-Japan Relations

Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese Peoples Political Consultative Conference, met a delegation from the JapanChina Friendship Parliamentarians Union in Beijing, on May 4, 2017.

The growth of China-Japan exchanges and cooperation in various fields has been hard-earned and should be cherished, Yu said, noting that this year marks the 45th anniversary of the normalization of relations between the two countries. China has been always committed to a peaceful, friendly and cooperative relationship with Japan on the basis of the spirit of “taking history as a mirror and looking forward to the future.” Japan should abide by the four political documents agreed on by the two sides and their four-point principled agreement. Japan should also deal with major issues related to history and Taiwan in the correct manner, so as to safeguard the political foundation of China-Japan ties. Yu hoped the JapanChina Friendship Parliamentarians Union would continue to play an active role in bilateral political exchanges and make continuous contributions to the improvement of bilateral relations.

Masahiko Komura, leader of the Japanese delegation, commented that the Japan-China relationship has maintained a steady momentum of improvement since leaders of the two countries reached consensus on promoting bilateral ties last year. He stressed that the Japan-China Friendship Parliamentarians Union is willing to make further efforts in this regard.

Chinese Vice President Calls for Deepening China-Senegalese Cooperation

Senegalese Prime Minister Mohammed Dionne met with visiting Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao in Dakar, the capital of Senegal, on May 8, 2017.

Calling Senegal an important partner of China in Africa, Li said China is very confident about the future of cooperation between the two countries and will continue to encourage its companies and financial institutions to participate in the construction of Senegals infrastructure.

He noted that 2017 is a crucial year for the implementation of outcomes from the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, including the 10 major cooperation plans geared towards accelerating Africas industrialization and agricultural modernization. China will uphold its policy of sincerity, real results, affinity and good faith and the correct viewpoint of righteousness and benevolence toward Africa while supporting the continents independent and sustainable development.

For his part, Dionne said Senegal is willing to enhance cooperation with China in areas including transport infrastructure, telecommunications, water conservation, sports and public health. Senegal welcomes more Chinese investors and hopes to draw successful experience from China to boost its own development.

Greece and China Inaugurate Cultural Exchange Year

Greece and China officially inaugurated the China-Greece Cultural Exchanges and Cultural Industry Cooperation Year in Athens, on April 27, 2017.

Two exhibitions, featuring the 2022 Winter Olympic Games to be held in China and the rich cultural heritage of Hangzhou in Chinas Zhejiang Province, were presented at the ceremony.

In her speech, Greek Culture Minister Lydia Koniordou emphasized how much Greece and China have in common despite the distance separating them. She also stressed the mutual determination to have various cultural exchanges in the future. She noted that the exchange year is one more significant step forward in the strategic collaboration between the two countries.

Two memoranda of understanding were signed, on film co-production and the translation and publishing of classic and modern Greek and Chinese works of literature.

Chinese Ambassador to Greece Zou Xiaoli said that cultural exchanges are an integral part of Sino-Greek relations and play an important role in strengthening the relationship between China and Europe, as well as promoting dialogues between cultures and encouraging mutual learning so as to advance world peace and development.
