The Successful Commissioning of The Pulang Copper Mine Phase I Mining and Dressing Project

On March 16, the commissioning ceremony of the Pulang Copper Mine phase I mining and dressing project was held as scheduled.

The Pulang Copper Mine, located in the 3,500-meter altitude snowy plateau of Shangri-la in Diqing, Yunnan, has 4.8 million tons of copper, 145 tons of gold, 2,754 tons of silver, 190,000 tons of molybdenum and 10.54 million tons of sulfur and is the largest porphyry copper mine in Asia. It was listed as one of the country's 47 integrated exploration areas and one of the key projects of the 12th Five-Year Development Plan of the Nonferrous Metal Industry and is a key project of Yunnan Province, a key resource project for the transformation and development of Aluminum Corporation of China Limited and China Copper as well as a major resource protection base of Yunnan Copper (Group).

The total investment of the project is RMB 6.47 billion and its service life is about 25 years. The project uses the advanced natural caving method for underground mining, an unmanned system for rail transport, the SABC process for grinding, a large flotation machine for the flotation of copper-molybdenum concentrates, and long-distance transport of high-concentration tailings to the tailing reservoir to be dammed up using the midline method. The completion of the project will have a profound impact on the transformation and upgrading of Aluminum Corporation of China Limited, China Copper, and even Yunnan Copper (Group) and on the rapid development of the local economy.
