Vice Mayor of Chongqing Meets with Mayor of Rovaniemi, Finland

On June 27, Tan Jialing, Vice Mayor of Chongqing has met with Mayor of Rovaniemi, Finland, Mr.Esko Lotvonen. Tan Jialing briefed the guests on the development of Chongqing, and hoped to strengthen cooperation in tourism, culture and education between Chongqing and Finland. Esko Lotvonen said that Rovaniemi is the legendary residence of Santa Claus, as well as Chongqing, which has a long history and rich culture; Chongqing residents are very welcome to go to Finland for sightseeing.

Later on the same day, Mr. Lotvonen also visited Longjing academy at the Chongqing Garden Expo for a traditional Chinese culture experience, watching Chinese Kung Fu, Chinese reading, experiencing the Chinese tea ceremony, talking with "little angel of Chinese culture", and sent them invitations.

Vice Mayor Mu Huaping Meets with DiÓssi Lóránd, Hungary Consul-General of Chongqing

On 15th July, Vice Mayor of Chongqing Mu Huaping meets with DiÓssi Lóránd, Hungary Consul-General of Chongqing and representatives to discuss the great relationship and the further corporation between Chongqing and Hungary. Lóránd stated that Hungary is proud of being the first country in Europe that signed the memorandum of “One Belt and One Road” strategy, and China-Hungary’s foreign strategies were perfectly matched. There were two successful activities held in April 2016: one is “Budapest’s Spring” cultural activity, the other is Hungary business representatives attended the Chongqing high-tech fair.

Vice Mayor Mu stated that Chongqing would give warm welcome to Hungary scholars and encourage them breeding their ideas and technology in Chongqing. Chongqing government would support China-Hungary interaction and cooperation in IT application, medicine and medical equipments, and food security fi elds under strategy and policy.

2016 Overseas Young People of "Chinese Root-Seeking Tour" Summer Camp Opens

On June 16, the 2016 overseas young people of "Chinese root-seeking tour" summer camp hosted by Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, Chongqing Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Offi ce, and Chongqing Normal University is open at Chongqing Normal University.

It is reported that this summer camp began on June 15, until June 26, which lasted 12 days, 101 Overseas Chinese youths from the United States, Thailand, and Indonesia participated in this camp. Organizers not only arranged Chinese learning and Chinese folk dance, Chinese martial arts, traditional Chinese culture courses such as calligraphy, tea ceremony, but also a rich cultural experience. Campers visited Dazu rock carvings the world heritage site and Rong Chang china, learned Qijiang farmers print, and experienced the unique charm of Bayu culture.

Vice Chairman of Chongqing People’s PoliticalConsultative Jiang Ping Meets Representative YuanJianping from Buenos Aires Argentina

On July 19th, Jiang Ping, the Vice Chairman of Chongqing People’s Political Consultative, meets with representative Yuan Jianping from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Jiang Ping introduced Chongqing’s economic development and current circumstances to guests, especially how Chongqing fits into “One Belt One Road’ strategy to enhance inland construction. Jiang stated that Buenos Aires could do more cooperation with Chongqing in commercial and railway construction fields. Yuan Jianping also showed strong wishes of cooperation. Deputy Secretary of the Municipal People's Political Consultative Xiang Yuanchun, the Associate Director of Chongqing Foreign Affairs Offi ce Wang Wen, the Associate Director of State-owned Assets Supervision & Administration Commission Li Xingqiang, and the General Manager of Chongqing Food Group Xu Li have attended the meeting.

Travelling Chongqing while Getting a VisaItaly Consulate General Chongqing Starts New Tourism Service

On June 28, Italy Consulate-General Chongqing held a press conference to announce that Italian consulate will jointly launch the "Itay-Chongqing tourism cooperation project" with Chongqing City Tourism Bureau, Yuzhong Tourism Bureau, Yuzhong Tourism Association, Italy Visa Application Centre Chongqing, Chongqing Airport Group and Hainan Airlines, a range of convenient services to stimulate consumption in Chongqing and its neighborhood.

It is reported that these value-added services including two people get VIP visa services with only single cost. (the VIP of service required to pay 260RMB per person).Personal passport applicants extraction period may be extended to 18:30 of the departure day.

Meanwhile, Hainan Airlines also joined the project. At present there are 17 domestic flights flying to Chongqing everyday including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xian, Sanya, Changsha, Hangzhou, Urumqi, Wenzhou, Beijing, and Shanghai. Tourists who are from these 17 cities flying to Chongqing for applying Italy visa after purchasing tickets to Rome, can enjoy domestic airfare free of charged of value added service.

Wang said that this trip was to strengthen connections; having in-depth understanding information of "Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe" railway, cross-border business operation information, related policies of bonded port, wine trade, helping economic and trade cooperation among Chongqing, Hungary and other Central European countries.
