According to the new course standards, The final goal of the language education is to promote all the students full development. While giving English lessons, teachers should not just train their integrating skills but also care much for their feelings. In that case, students can be helped to build healthy and full peisonalities and good qualities. Both.teachers and students must try to create an active atmosphere in which they respect and understand each other and theyre also generous and cooperative. By this means, their interests can be aroused and more and more students will be able to learn the language actively and effectively.
Combining that with my teaching practice, I think teachers can successfully help the students have active and healthy emotions by taking following practical measures.
I. Reconstructing the idea of classroom teaching-respecting the studentsemotions and training healthy and full personalities.
Respecting students emotions is as important as respecting their personalities.Emotion is the power of action. All the students activities in the school are closely connected with their emotional experiences. Only a good state of mind can the students receive the education calmly and happily. Otherwise, its very easy to cause them to feel upset, worried or even fiightened if teachers neglect their emotional states, which many have a negative effect on the students life. In case the emotional crisis occurs to the students, teachers must try all means to help them out of trouble and teach them to express or control their feelings properly. In this case, the students emotions are fully respected and it will help them build strong and healthy personalities.
II. Helping the students succeed to hold self- confidence and experience pleasure and fulfillment.
All the students have different levels of intelligence and talent, so what we lack is discovery. Teachers must be sure of everyone s potentiality and change the traditional way of evaluation by offering them enough opportunities to achieve success and appreciating everyone's special wisdom and ability.
III. Caring about weak students to let all of them receive equal education.
Education should serve all the students, that is to say, teachers must try to do “all for students, for students all, for all students”. During modern educational reforms, teachere snbuld care more for weak students than top ones. In fact, any student normal in body and mind can make progress with the teachers help. So it does matter whether the teachers lessons can meet the students needs, especially in emotional attitudes and views of life. If theyre given equal education in most proper ways, it will surely help all of them develop healthily and fully instead of being left behind.
IV. Renewing the idea of classroom teaching by promoting the interaction between teachers and students.
During the classroom teaching activities, a good relationship between teachers and students is one of the most important factors to promote production and reproduction of the knowledge from textbooks. The essence of this relationship lies in the interaction between each other. While interacting, both of them can share the knowledge information from teachers, students and teaching materials. While trying to reach the teaching goals, teachers can easily encourage the students to take part in the challenges. In such a state, the study of knowledge has been expanded to the fields of feelings and personalities.
V. Creating a democratic and pleasant atmosphere to arouse the students' imagination and creation in new ways.
Arousing the students imagination and creation needs democratic and united, pleasant atmosphere that can fascinate all the students. The democratic atmosphere and friendly relationship will make the students practise using English as much as possible and enjoy the pleasure inside successful experience. As a result, they will become more and more interested in the study of English. Day by day, the classroom teaching will be kept alive and creative by letting the students raise questions,give opinions and express themselves freely.
All in all, feelings and attitudes are the most important factors which have a great effect on the students study and development. So English teachers should not only students knowledge, but also pay much attention to helping them have healthy emotions, good states of miud and right views of life. At the same time,teachers must make full use of teaching materials to let students understand and experience colorful emotions for themselves. By this means we can at last reach the final goal of the language education—to promote the students' healthy and full development in body and mind.
