Winter Sports on Paper

On July 31， 2015， the 128th session of the International Olympic Committee （IOC） announced its acceptance of Beijing and Zhangjiakous joint bid to co-host the 2022 Winter Olympics. Along with its facilities for winter sports， Zhangjiakou in Hebei Province also takes pride in Yuxian County， dubbed the“birthplace of Chinese papercutting art.”In particular， Yuxians colored papercutting stands out among various genres of Chinese papercutting art. A prestigious papercutting artist in Yuxian， Gao Dian- liang created nine papercutting works depicting winter sports to celebrate Beijing and Zhangjiakous successful bid for the Winter Olympics. Featuring vivid designs and beautiful colors， the nine papercuts fuse traditional Chinese art and modern winter sports.
