Fujian Provincial Government Signed Cooperation Agreement with Chinalco

On September 27, Fujian Provincial Government signed the “Cooperation Agreement on Copper Smelting Base Project” with Chinalco.

You Quan, Secretary of CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, said that Fujian always regards developing strategic emerging industries such as new material as key access point for transforming approach, adjusting structure and promoting industrial transition & upgrading, and actively introduces big projects and good projects. It is hoped Chinalco will fully bring out its advantages in nonferrous metal prospecting, development, management and International cooperation aspects, continue to treat Fujian as a key base for making development and deployment, further expand investment fields, enlarge industrial scale, extend industrial chain, jointly expand and consolidate Fujian’s nonferrous metals industry. We will create excellent environment, provide premium and efficient services for Chinalco’s investment in Fujian, in order to promote cooperation between both sides to fulfill mutual benefit and win-win.

Chairman of Chinalco Ge Honglin said, currently Fujian’s development is facing rare opportunities, resource, location, and policy advantages are more prominent. Chinalco will, in combination with Fujian’s industrial deployment, bring out Chinalco’s advantages in technology and capital aspects, build copper smelting project in Fujian, extend industrial chain, properly handle deep processing, in order to propel Fujian nonferrous metals industry to expand development. Meanwhile, Chinalco will adhere to safety first, insist on priority of environmental protection, and construct environment-friendly, resource-saving, clean-production enterprise.

According to the Agreement, Chinalco and the provincial government will jointly make investment to set up a joint venture company, and construct 400,000 t/a copper smelting base in Ningde Zhangwan Industrial Zone Metallurgical Industrial Park.
