Shanxi Will Build Aluminum Deep Processing Industrial Park

As a province with high coal output, Shanxi boasts rich electrolytic aluminum resources. On January 7, the reporter learned from the Provincial Commission of Economy and Information Technology that in order to continually expand the size of aluminum industry, extend aluminum industrial chain, so as to highlight clustering effect of aluminum industry, within the next 5 years, it will build aluminum deep processing industrial park, and create “1461” industrial system, by 2020 its gross industrial output value will top 30 billion yuan.

It has been learned that this industrial park is located in Yongji, at present there are 10 enterprises above designated size in park zone, it has initially developed industrial chain focusing on aluminum ingot (aluminum liquid) — aluminum alloy bar (aluminum big flat ingot) — aluminum profile (aluminum sheet products) — automobile components. The key products include aluminum and aluminum alloy ingot, aluminum alloy bar, aluminum alloy flat ingot, aluminum alloy cast-rolling coil, aluminum alloy profile, aluminum alloy sheet and strip products. With 590,000 tonnes of aluminum rough processing capacity, the production capacity of aluminum processing products has reached 74,500 tonnes. Nevertheless, it also faces prominent problems such as relatively high production cost of electrolytic aluminum, imbalance between electrolytic aluminum production capacity and aluminum processing capacity, and low percentage of deep processing for aluminum products.

According to the plan, the park zone will build “1461” industrial system. Namely, by relying on Huasheng Aluminum, develop four industrial chains including construction & industrial use aluminum profile industrial chain, automobile and consumables casting components industrial chain, aluminum sheet, strip and foil industrial chain, and electronic aluminum foil industrial chain, build six aluminum deep processing blocks in building, transport, electronics, packaging, electronic appliances and consumables fields, improve lateral supporting industries, such as modern aluminum logistics, extrusion abrasive tool, and anode carbon etc.

By 2020, it will strive to increase the number of aluminum deep processing enterprises within the park zone to over 50, the park zone’s production capacity of high purity aluminum will reach 15,000 tonnes; rough processing production capacity will reach 690,000 tonnes, production output of aluminum deep processing products will top 270,000 tonnes, the percentage of deep processing will reach 40% above, gross industrial output value will top 30 billion yuan.
