Successful Application of FCAS Catalyst in S Zorb Unit at SINOPEC Luoyang Branch Company
Recently the domestic FCAS catalyst developed by the SINOPEC’s Research Institute of Petroleum Processing (RIPP) has been successfully applied in the 1.50 Mt/a S Zorb unit for desulfurization of FCC naphtha at SINOPEC’s Luoyang Petrochemical Company to deliver lowsulfur refined gasoline with a sulfur content of less than 10 μg/g. This is the fourth new S Zorb unit that completely applies the FCAS catalyst after the Jinlin Petrochemical Company, the Shanghai Petrochemical Company and the Anqing Petrochemical Company inside the SINOPEC system.
The FCAS catalyst is a product developed by RIPP and tailored to meet the needs of the S Zorb technology. In comparison with the overseas catalysts, the domestic FCAS catalyst, besides its similar desulfurization activity, catalyst stability and retained gasoline octane, possesses better fluidization performance, attrition resistance and catalytic stability to meet the demand of commercial units for smooth operation. This project, thanks to its advanced technical performance, has been granted by SINOPEC the first grade prize of technical advancement.
In the course of star-up of the S Zorb unit at the Luoyang Petrochemical Company, the RIPP technical team in close collaboration with the experts and operating personnel of Luoyang Petrochemical Company has been engaging in fine-tuned operation of the unit to guarantee the smooth realization of such procedures as introduction of the catalytic reforming feed, pre-sulfidation of the catalyst, and feeding of FCC naphtha to verify the excellent performance of the domestic FCAS catalyst.
