The International Tchaikovsky Competition, held once every four years, is considered one of Russias most valuable cultural assets. Under the new leadership of Valery Gergiev, the 2011 competition was the highest-profile in its history. Two young prodigies from Russia and one from Armenia were standout performers and won the first prizes. In May, these three rising stars will wow audiences at the Shanghai Grand Theater as part of their global tour. It promises to be a performance highlight in Shanghai this year.
