On a trip to Disney World in Florida, my husband and I and our two children devoted ourselves wholeheartedly to the wonders of this attraction. After three exhausting days, we headed for home.

As we drove away, our son waved and said, “Good-bye, Mickey.”

Our daughter waved and said, “Good-bye, Minnie.”

My husband waved, rather weakly, and said, “Good-bye, Money.”

most 一词既可用作形容词，也可用作副词和名词。本文拟结合一些实例对most的基本用法作一概述。

一、形容词most可用作many、much的最高级，意为“最多的”、“最高程度的”，后面可跟复数可数名词或不可数名词；形容词most可表示“多数的”、“大部分的”、“多半的”等意思，后面可跟复数可数名词。例如：

Who has the most need of help? 谁最需要帮助？

Most people think so. 大多数人都这么想。

二、most用作副词时，有下面几种用法：

1. 常置于两个音节以上的形容词或副词之前，并与其一起构成该词的最高级形式。例如：

Which lesson is the most difficult in this book? 这本书里哪一课最难？

2. 表示“极”、“得”、“十分”、“非常”等意思，用来强调或加强语气。在这种情况下，most前面不用定冠词the。例如：

Thats most kind of you. 你心肠真好。

We shall most certainly come. 我们一定来。

3. 表示“几乎”、“差不多”等意思，相当于almost / nearly。例如：

Most everybody talks about it.

几乎每个人都在谈论此事。

三、most用作名词，其意为“最大量”、“最多数”、“最高额”、“大多数”、“大部分”、“大多数人”。例如：

Do the most you can. 尽你所能去做。

The most are on our side. 大多数人都支持我们。
