Q：老师让我们翻译一个句子“虽然下着大雨，但是足球赛仍然继续进行。”我翻译为：Though it was raining hard, but the football match still went on.老师却说我翻译得不对，请问这是为什么呢？

A：“虽然下着大雨，但是足球赛仍然继续进行。”这个句子翻译起来需要用到让步状语从句，大家要注意，在让步状语从句中，用了though就无需再用but，这与汉语的“虽然……但是……”的用法有所不同。这个句子可以有以下两种翻译方法，大家要记牢哟！

Though it was raining hard, the football match still went on.

It was raining hard, but the football match still went on.

Q：下面这道选择题，老师说正确答案是A，请问大嘴叔叔，为什么不选B呢？

—When do you go shopping?

—I usually go shopping ______ Sunday mornings.

A. on B. in C. at D. for

A：我们常常用in the morning表达“在早上”，但当指某一天的早上时，介词必须用on，而不用in, 题中“每个星期天的早上我通常都去购物”，强调“星期天的早上”，故选A。

Q：在学习反意疑问句时，老师反复强调“前肯后否，前否后肯”，那为什么这个选择题的正确答案会是C呢？

A：这里，我们要首先弄清楚hardly的含意。hardly意为“几乎不”，相当于almost not, 表示否定。当前句有否定词hardly, few, never等时，后面反意疑问句使用肯定形式，助动词要与前句谓语动词的时态和形式保持一致。

Q：老师上课时讲到，英语中进行比较的两个对象必须是同类事物或同性质的两者，如A、B两地的天气比较时，就表达为the weather in A is ... than that in B. 但我做课外题时，有个句子“红色篮子里的梨比黄色篮子的梨小”时，我的答案The pears in the red basket are smaller than that in the yellow basket.却是错的，请问我错在哪里呢？

A：请注意两个句子的主语。前者的主语是the weather in somewhere，主语为单数；后者的主语是the pears，in the red basket作定语修饰the pears，主语为复数，故正确的翻译应该是The pears in ... than those in the yellow basket.。
