本刊是主要反映航空、民航、航天科学技术及其理论基础成果的综合性学术刊物，创刊于1982年，其读者对象主要是航空、民航、航天、机械、电子、电气等领域的科技工作者、理工科院校师生和相应的管理干部。本刊是我国创刊最早的高校英文学报，其稿件为直接英文稿，大多数为学术水平较高，具有国际交流的论文，与中文学报不重复，它是我国科技论文统计用期刊，并被国外多家检索机构收录。
