《石油科学通报》由国家新闻出版广电总局批准创刊，教育部主管，中国石油大学(北京)主办，公开发行。刊物主要发表石油地质、石油地球物理、石油工程、石油机械、石油化工、石油经济等领域新思想、新成果，综合反映石油自然科学与社会科学多学科交叉基础研究进展，为石油科学研究者提供高水平的学术交流平台。期刊内容不仅全面涵盖石油自然科学的众多学科，更侧重从宏观视角展示与传播石油自然科学研究成果与国家经济、文化等社会科学的重大相关关系，站在国家战略的高度，促进石油科技成果的创新与转化，引导中国石油科技战略重大走向，彰显中国石油科学对世界石油战略格局的影响。
