1 due

生义：adj.（1）到期的 (required or expected to happen or be done )

如：This assignment is due tomorrow.这个任务的最后完成期限是明天。

My wife is due in three weeks.我妻子三星期后回来。

The bill is due at the end of the month.这张账单月底到期。

（2）应付的，应得的 (owed or deserved )

如：She finally got the recognition she was due.她终于获得了应有的认可。

The amount due is 45 dollars.应付的金额是45美元。

（3）应有的 (in a proper or necessary amount )

如：I will give your idea due consideration.我会充分考虑你的意见的。

Treat your teacher with due respect.给老师以应有的尊重。

2 bite

熟义：v.咬

生义：v.（1）使产生强烈疼痛或不适 （to cause sharp pain or stinging discomfort to）

5 rough

熟义：adj.汹涌的；粗糙的；大概的

生义：adj.（1）不平的；崎岖的 (having an uneven or irregular surface; not smooth or level)

（2）粗鲁的；粗野的(of a person or their behavior, not gentle; violent or boisterous)

如：rough manners 粗鲁无礼的态度

（3）未完成的，不完善的 (not finished tidily or decoratively)

（4）难行的 (difficult to travel through or penetrate, wild)

（5）艰难的 (presenting a challenge, difficult)

熟义：prep.反对；靠，倚

生义：prep.作为背景 (having as background)

8 bitter

熟义：adj.苦的

生义：adj.（1）沉痛的，沉重的；令人难以承受的 （difficult or distasteful to accept, admit, or bear）

如：the bitter truth 沉痛的事实

Tony’s decision has come as a bitter blow.托尼的决定是一个沉重的打击。

（2）程度深的或强度高的，激烈的 （intense or fierce）

如：Why was she so bitter against Mr.Smith? 为什么她那么强烈地反对史密斯先生？

10 finish

熟义：v.完成；用完，吃完；耗尽

生义：v.（1）给抛光，上漆 (to provide with a finish; especially to put a final coat or surface on)

（2）给最后加工，使完美，润饰

如：finish one’s new home 给新家做最后的装饰
